Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): Ibn Shubrumah and Abu Hanifah came to Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him). The Imam (peace be upon him) said to Abu Hanifah: "Fear Allah and do not justify the religion by your own opinion and analogy (qiyas). The first one who used analogy was Iblis, for Allah commanded him to prostrate. He said: 'I am better than him; You created me from fire and created him from clay.'" Then he said: "Which is more filthy, urine or semen?" Abu Hanifah answered: "Urine." He said: "According to your analogy, ghusl (ritual bath) should be required for urine and not for semen, whereas Allah has required ghusl for semen and not for urine." Then he said: "Because semen is voluntary and comes out from the whole body, and occurs once every few days, while urine is a necessity and occurs several times each day." Abu Hanifah said: "How does semen come out from the whole body, when Allah says in the Noble Qur'an يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَیْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَ التَّرائِبِ [Coming from between the back and the ribs]?" Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: "Has He said that it does not come out from anywhere else [that it comes out only from these two places]?"
