سورة الشمس

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): الشَّمْسِ [The sun] is the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), through whom Allah made the people's religion clear to them.

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا [By the sun and its brilliance]; what is meant by it is Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).

Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him): What is meant by it is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family).

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا [I swear by the sun and its brilliance] — the sun is Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him), and its brilliance is the rising of Imam al-Qa'im (may Allah hasten his noble relief).

The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family): My likeness among you is the likeness of the sun, and the likeness of Ali (peace be upon him) is the likeness of the moon; so when the sun disappears, find your way by the moon.

Imam al-Rida (peace be upon him): The sun and the moon are two of Allah's created beings that move by His command and are obedient to Him; their light is from the light of His Throne and their heat is from the heat of Hell. On the Day of Resurrection their light will return to the Throne and their heat will return to the fire of Hell.

The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family): In the sun there are four traits: it changes the complexion, makes odour foul, wears out clothing, and brings on disease.
