Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): Hisham ibn Salim narrates that Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: Jibra'il, Mika'il and Israfil brought the Buraq to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family). One took the bridle and another took the stirrup and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) mounted, and the third arranged his clothes. The Buraq grew restive and Jibra'il struck it on the face and said: "Be still, O Buraq! No prophet has ridden on your back before this, and after him no one like him will ever ride you." The Buraq raised the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) up a little [not very high], and Jibra'il was with him showing him the signs of the heavens and the earth. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "On the way, someone called to me from the right: 'O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)!' I did not answer him and paid him no attention. Then someone called to me from the left: 'O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)!' I did not answer him and paid him no attention. Then a woman came towards me from in front, her arms bare to the elbows and adorned with every ornament of the world, and she said: 'O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! Look at me so that I may speak with you.' But I paid her no attention and continued on my way, until I heard a sound that frightened me. I went ahead. Jibra'il came to me and said: 'Pray.' I dismounted and prayed. He asked: 'Do you know where you prayed?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'You prayed at Tur Sinai, where Allah spoke to Musa (Nisa/164).' I mounted the Buraq again and set off. Jibra'il again said: 'Dismount and pray.' I did so. He asked: 'Do you know where you prayed?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'You prayed at Bayt Lahm; Bayt Lahm is near Bayt al-Muqaddas and is the birthplace of Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him).' Then I mounted again and we went towards Bayt al-Muqaddas. I tied the Buraq to the ring to which the prophets used to tie their mounts, and entered the mosque with Jibra'il beside me. We saw Ibrahim, Musa and Isa (peace be upon them), and all of the prophets whom Allah willed, come to me, and the prayer was established. I had no doubt that Jibra'il would step forward and lead the prayer, but when the rows were arranged, Jibra'il took my arm and put me ahead of everyone, and I led their [congregational] prayer — and I do not boast. Then the keeper brought me three vessels: one containing milk, one water, and the other wine. I heard someone say: 'If he takes the vessel of water, he and his ummah will drown; if he takes the wine, he and his ummah will go astray; and if he takes the milk, he and his ummah will be guided.' I took the milk vessel and drank from it. Jibra'il said: 'You and your ummah have been guided.' Then he asked: 'What did you see on the way?' I said: 'Someone called to me from the right.' He asked: 'Did you answer him?' I said: 'No, I paid him no attention.' He said: 'That was the caller of the Jews; had you answered him, after you your ummah would all have become Jews.' He asked: 'What else did you see?' I said: 'Someone called to me from the left.' He asked: 'Did you answer him?' I said: 'No, I paid him no attention.' He said: 'That was the caller of Christianity; had you answered him, after you your ummah would have become Christians.' He asked: 'What came to meet you from ahead?' I said: 'A woman whose arms were bare to the elbows and who was adorned with every ornament of the world said to me: O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), look at me so that I may speak with you.' He asked: 'Did you speak with her?' I said: 'No, I said nothing and paid her no attention.' He said: 'That was the world; had you exchanged a single word with her, your ummah would have preferred the world over the hereafter.' Then I heard a fearful sound. Jibra'il said: 'O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), do you hear?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Seventy years ago I threw a rock from the edge of Jahannam into it, and only now has it reached its bottom.' They said: 'The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) never laughed again until he surrendered his soul to the Creator.' The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: 'Then I ascended with Jibra'il to the lowest heaven. There was an angel there named Isma'il, the master of the "snatching" of whom Allah the Mighty and Majestic says: إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهابٌ ثاقِبٌ [except one who snatches a snatching, and a piercing flame follows him] (Saffat/10). Under his command are seventy thousand angels, and under each angel are another seventy thousand angels. He asked: "O Jibra'il! Who is this with you?" He replied: "Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), the Messenger of Allah." He asked: "Has he been sent?" He said: "Yes." Then he opened the gate of the heaven. I greeted him and he returned my greeting; we sought forgiveness for each other, and he said: "Welcome, O righteous brother and righteous prophet." I met all of them and shook hands with them, and entered the lowest heaven. All the angels welcomed me with smiling faces and glad tidings of good, except one who was enormous, of ugly appearance and evidently angry; he prayed for me like the others, but without a smile or an open face. I asked: "O Jibra'il! Who is this? I have been frightened by him." He said: "You should be frightened by him; all of us fear him. This is Malik, the keeper of the Fire. He has never laughed, and ever since Allah placed him over Jahannam his anger and wrath towards the enemies of Allah and the sinners increases day by day; through him Allah takes revenge on His enemies. Had he ever laughed at anyone before you, or been about to laugh at anyone after you, he would have laughed at you today; but he never laughs." I greeted him and he returned my greeting and gave me the good news of Paradise. To Jibra'il, who, according to the words of Allah, is obeyed [by the angels] in the heavens and trustworthy (Takwir/21), I said: "Will you order him to show me Jahannam?" Jibra'il said to him: "Malik! Show Jahannam to Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)." He lifted the covering of Jahannam and opened one of its doors. A fire came out of it and blazed up into the sky. I was greatly frightened and thought that this fire was about to engulf me. I said: "O Jibra'il! Tell him to put the covering back over the fire." Jibra'il did so, and Malik said to the fire: "Return." And the fire returned to its place. I went further and saw a large, tall, wheat-coloured man. I asked: "O Jibra'il! Who is this?" He said: "This is your father, Adam (peace be upon him)." Suddenly his descendants and progeny were displayed before him, and he was saying: "A pure spirit and a fragrant scent from a pure body." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) recited Surah al-Mutaffifin: کَلَّا إِنَّ کِتابَ الْأَبْرارِ لَفِی عِلِّیِّینَ * وَ ما أَدْراکَ ما عِلِّیُّونَ * کِتابٌ مَرْقُومٌ * یَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ [Not so; indeed the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyyin. And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? An inscribed book, witnessed by those brought near] (Mutaffifin/18–21). We greeted each other and sought forgiveness for one another. Adam (peace be upon him) said: "Welcome, O righteous son, righteous and worthy prophet, who has been sent in a good and righteous age." Then I came upon an angel from among the angels who was seated in a place, with the whole world between his two knees, and in his hand was a tablet of light on which things were written; he was gazing at it and paying no attention to the right or left or those around him, sitting sorrowful and sad. I asked: "Jibra'il! Who is this?" He said: "This is the Angel of Death, diligent and serious in seizing souls." I said: "Let us go closer so that I may speak with him." We drew near, and I greeted him. Jibra'il said to him: "This is Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), the Prophet of Mercy, whom Allah has sent to His servants." He welcomed me and greeted me with salutation and said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! I give you glad tidings that I see all good in your ummah." I said: "Praise be to Allah, the Bestower of blessings and favours on His servants; this is from the grace and mercy of my Lord towards me." Jibra'il said: "In his work, he is the harshest of the angels." I asked: "Is it you who seizes the soul of every person who has died or who will die hereafter?" He said: "Yes." I asked: "You see them wherever they are and witness them yourself?" He said: "Yes." The Angel of Death said: "The whole world, which Allah has subjected to me and given me power over, is to me like a dirham in a man's palm which he turns whichever way he wishes. I visit every house five times each day, and whenever the bereaved weep over their dead I say to them: Do not weep for him, for I will return to you again and again, until not one of you remains." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Death is a calamity greater than all calamities, O Jibra'il!" Jibra'il said: "What comes after death is far more severe and terrible than death itself." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Then we went further and saw a group before whom cloths were laid out on which were pure meat and impure, foul meat; they were leaving the pure meat and eating the impure food." I asked: "Who are these?" Jibra'il said: "These are a group from your ummah who consume unlawful wealth." Then I saw an angel whose creation was very strange: half of his body was fire and the other half was ice; neither did the fire melt the ice, nor did the ice extinguish the fire, and he was calling out in a loud voice: "Glory be to Allah Who has restrained this fire so that it does not melt the ice, and has restrained the cold of this snow from extinguishing the heat of this fire. O Allah, You who have brought harmony between ice and fire, bring harmony and love into the hearts of Your believing servants also." I asked: "Who is this?" Jibra'il said: "Allah has appointed this angel over all the corners and regions of the heavens and the earths. He is the most well-wishing of Allah's angels towards the believing servants, and ever since he was created he has been reciting for them the very supplication you heard. And there are two angels in the heaven, one of whom constantly says: O Allah! Grant a replacement to every one who spends. And the other says: O Allah! Grant destruction and ruin to every one who withholds." I went further and saw a group whose lips were like the lips of camels; they were tearing off the flesh from their sides and casting it into their mouths. I asked: "Who are these?" Jibra'il said: "These are the fault-finders and slanderers." And I saw a group whose heads were being crushed with rocks. I asked: "Who are these?" Jibra'il said: "These are those who were neglectful of the Isha prayer and gave it no importance." I saw a group into whose mouths fire was being poured and it was coming out of their rears. I asked: "Who are these?" He said: "These are those who unjustly devour the property of orphans; [in reality] they only eat fire, and soon they will burn in the blazing flames [of Hell] (Nisa/10)." I saw a group who, when they wished to stand, were prevented by the largeness of their bellies. I asked Jibra'il about them; he said: "These are those who devour usury; [on the Day of Resurrection] they do not rise except as one rises who, from Satan's touch, has been driven mad [and cannot keep his balance — sometimes falling, sometimes standing] (Baqarah/275). These usurers, like the family of Pharaoh, are cast into the fire morning and evening, and they say: O Lord! When will the Hour come?" Then I saw women hung by their breasts. I asked: "Who are these?" Jibra'il said: "These are adulterous women, who caused their husbands' property to be inherited by the children of others." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Great is the wrath of Allah upon a woman who introduces into a people someone not of them, so that he becomes acquainted with their private matters and consumes their treasures." Then I saw a group of angels whom Allah the Mighty and Majestic had created in the form He willed and had placed their faces as He willed. Every part of their bodies was mentioning and glorifying Allah with a different voice; their voices were raised in praise, and they were weeping out of fear of Allah. I asked Jibra'il about them; he said: "They have been created as you see them. Out of fear of Allah, not one of them has ever spoken a word to the angel beside him, nor lifted his head, nor bent it lower than it is." I greeted them, and out of humility and reverence they replied to me only with a nod of the head. Jibra'il said: "This is Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), the Prophet of Mercy, whom Allah has sent as a prophet to His servants. He is the seal of the prophets and their master. Will you not speak to him?" Hearing this, they came towards me, greeted me with salutations, and gave good tidings to me and to my ummah. Then we ascended to the second heaven; I saw two men who were exactly alike. I asked Jibra'il: "Who are these?" He said: "Two cousins, Isa and Yahya (peace be upon them)." I greeted them, they returned my greeting, and we sought forgiveness for one another. They said: "Welcome, O righteous brother and prophet!" There too I saw angels like those I had seen in the first heaven, all engaged in praising and glorifying Allah, each with a voice different from the others, and Allah had created them just as He had willed. Then we ascended to the third heaven; I saw a man whose beauty, compared to the others, was like the full moon among the stars. I asked Jibra'il about him; he said: "That is your brother, Yusuf (peace be upon him)." I greeted him, he returned my greeting, and we sought forgiveness for one another. He said: "Welcome, O brother and righteous prophet, who has been sent in a good and righteous age." There too I saw angels in humility and reverence, as in the first and second heavens. Jibra'il said to them what he had said about me to the others, and they did the same as the earlier angels had done. Then we ascended to the fourth heaven; I saw a man there. I asked Jibra'il about him; he said: "This is Idris (peace be upon him), whom Allah has exalted to a high and lofty station." We greeted each other and sought forgiveness for one another. There too, as in the earlier layers of the heavens, I saw angels in humility, reverence and worship, who gave good tidings to me and my ummah. Then I saw an angel seated on a throne with seventy thousand angels facing him, and under each angel were seventy thousand angels. It occurred to the heart of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) that this angel must be the one [i.e., a very high one]. Then Jibra'il cried out at that angel and said: "Stand up!" And he will remain standing until the Day of Resurrection. Then we went to the fifth heaven; I saw a middle-aged man with large eyes; I had never seen a middle-aged man greater than him. A group of his followers were with him; I was amazed at their number. I asked: "O Jibra'il! Who is this?" He said: "Harun ibn Imran, the beloved among his people." We greeted each other and sought forgiveness for one another. There too, as in the earlier heavens, I saw angels in humility and worship. Then we ascended to the sixth heaven; I saw a wheat-coloured, tall man, and if he had worn two shirts, his hair would still have pierced through both of them. I heard him saying: "The Bani Isra'il believe that I am the noblest and most honoured of the children of Adam (peace be upon him), the father of humankind; but this man is nobler and more honoured than I." I asked Jibra'il: "Who is this?" He said: "Your brother, Musa ibn Imran (peace be upon him)." We greeted each other and sought forgiveness for one another. There too I saw angels in humility, reverence and worship of the Lord, as in the earlier heavens. Then we ascended to the seventh heaven; every angel I passed said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! Perform hijamah (cupping) and order your ummah to perform hijamah." And there too I saw a man whose hair and beard were mingled black and white, seated on a throne. I asked: "O Jibra'il! Who is this man who dwells in the seventh heaven, at the door of Bayt al-Ma'mur, in the neighbourhood of the Exalted Lord?" He said: "This is your father, Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and this is your station and the station of the pious of your ummah." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) recited: إِنَّ أَوْلَی النَّاسِ بِإِبْراهِیمَ لَلَّذِینَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَ هذَا النَّبِیُّ وَ الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا وَ اللهُ وَلِیُّ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ [Indeed the most worthy of people to Ibrahim are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who have believed, and Allah is the Guardian of the believers] (Al Imran/68). Then we greeted each other, and Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: "Welcome, O righteous prophet and righteous son, who has been sent in a good and righteous age!" There too, as in the six earlier heavens, I saw angels in prostration and reverence, giving good tidings to me and my ummah. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "In the seventh heaven I saw seas of light, so radiant that they nearly blinded the eyes; and dark seas, and seas of snow and ice, thundering with lightning. Every time I was frightened I asked Jibra'il, and Jibra'il said: 'Glad tidings and good news to you, O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! Thank the honour of your Lord, and offer praise to Him for His grace. Allah, with His power and support, has given me strength of heart and firmness.'" And I asked Jibra'il many questions and was greatly astonished at what I saw. Jibra'il said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! What you see seems to you great and enormous — yet this is but one of the creatures of your Lord. So what of the Creator who created such a creation? And what of the great and enormous creations that you do not see? Between Allah and His creation there are seventy thousand veils, and the nearest of creation to Allah are Israfil and I; and between us and Him there are four veils: a veil of light, a veil of darkness, a veil of clouds, and a veil of water. And among the wondrous creations Allah has made and shaped as He willed was a rooster whose feet were at the lowest limit of the seventh earth and whose head was at the Throne; it was one of Allah's angels which Allah had, by His will, shaped in that form. Its feet were at the farthest limit of the seventh earth; it rose upwards, reached the seventh heaven, and continued rising until its crest reached the Divine Throne, and it constantly says: 'Glory be to my Lord, wherever I am.' It has two great wings such that if it spreads them, they would cover the east and the west. At every dawn this rooster spreads its wings, flaps them, and glorifies aloud: 'Glory be to Allah, the Sovereign, the Holy; Glory be to Allah, the Great, the Most High; there is no god but Allah, the Living, the Self-Subsisting.' At this act of his, all the roosters of the earth open their tongues in glorification, flap their wings, and cry out; and when this rooster in the heaven falls silent, the roosters of the earth also fall silent. Beneath its white feathers were deep-green feathers and down, thick and rich, and I had never seen such a green colour. Then I set off with Jibra'il and entered Bayt al-Ma'mur and prayed two rak'ahs there. With me were a group of my companions wearing new clothes and another group wearing worn-out clothes. First those wearing new clothes came, then those wearing worn clothes were seated. Then two rivers appeared to me, one called al-Kawthar and the other al-Rahmah; I drank from the water of al-Kawthar and bathed in the river of al-Rahmah. Then those rivers became subservient to me until I entered Paradise. On the banks of those rivers in Paradise were my houses and the houses of my wives. Its soil was like fragrant musk. I saw a houri swimming in the rivers of Paradise. I asked her: 'For whom have you been created?' She said: 'For Zayd ibn Harithah.' In the morning I gave Zayd the good news of her. [There were] birds like the camels of Khorasan and pomegranates like great buckets hanging from the trees; and I also saw there a tree such that if a bird flew around its trunk for seven hundred years it would still not return to its starting point; in every dwelling in Paradise there was a branch of this tree. I asked Jibra'il: 'What is this?' He said: 'This is the tree of Tuba, of which Allah said: طُوبی لَهُمْ وَ حُسْنُ مَآبٍ [Tuba (blessedness) is for them and a beautiful place of return] (Ra'd/29).' The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "When I entered Paradise, I came to myself, and I asked Jibra'il about those seas and their vastness and wondrous creation." He said: "They are the curtains of the veils behind which Allah has veiled Himself; if it were not for those veils, the light of the Divine Throne would destroy everything." I reached Sidrat al-Muntaha; every leaf of it cast its shadow over an entire nation. In relation to it I was as Allah says: قابَ قَوْسَیْنِ أَوْ أَدْنی [at the distance of two bow-lengths or nearer] (Najm/9). Allah called out to me: آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِما أُنْزِلَ إِلَیْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ [The Messenger has believed in what has been sent down to him from his Lord] (Baqarah/285). And on behalf of myself and my ummah I answered: "وَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ کُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللهِ وَ مَلائِکَتِهِ وَ کُتُبِهِ وَ رُسُلِهِ لا نُفَرِّقُ بَیْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ [And the believers, each one has believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, (saying): we make no distinction between any of His messengers]." And I said: "سَمِعْنا وَ أَطَعْنا غُفْرانَکَ رَبَّنا وَ إِلَیْکَ الْمَصِیرُ [We hear and we obey; Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return]" (Baqarah/285). Allah said: "لا یُکَلِّفُ اللهُ نَفْساً إِلَّا وُسْعَها لَها ما کَسَبَتْ وَ عَلَیْها مَا اکْتَسَبَتْ [Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity; whatever [good] it does is for itself and whatever [evil] it does is against itself]." I said: "رَبَّنا لا تُؤاخِذْنا إِنْ نَسِینا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنا [Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or err]." Allah said: "I will not take you to task." I said: "رَبَّنا وَ لا تَحْمِلْ عَلَیْنا إِصْراً کَما حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَی الَّذِینَ مِنْ قَبْلِنا [Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden as You laid it upon those before us]." Allah said: "I will not lay it upon you." [Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no strength to bear; and pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us; You are our Master, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people]" (Baqarah/286). Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: "I have granted that to you and to your ummah." Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: "No one nobler or more honoured than the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) was ever sent to Allah, that he would ask for such a quality for his ummah." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "O Allah! You have granted virtues and ranks to Your prophets, so grant to me also." He said: "I have granted you two phrases from beneath My Throne: لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ وَ لَا مَنْجَی مِنْکَ إِلَّا إِلَیْکَ [There is no power and no strength except by Allah, and there is no refuge from You except in You]." And the angels taught me supplications and words that I recite every morning and evening: "O Allah! From my own wrongdoing I seek refuge in Your pardon, from my sin in Your forgiveness, from my lowliness in Your might, from my poverty in Your self-sufficiency; and my perishable face seeks refuge in Your eternal, everlasting face which never perishes." Then I heard the adhan; an angel was giving the adhan in the heaven who had never been seen before that night. He said: "اللهُ أکبَر، اللهُ أکبَر [Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest]." Allah said: "My servant has spoken the truth; I am the Greatest and the Highest." He said: "أشهَدُ أن لا إلهَ إلاّ الله، أشهَدُ أن لا إلهَ إلاّ الله [I bear witness that there is no god but Allah]." The Exalted Lord said: "My servant has spoken the truth; I am Allah; there is no god but Me." He said: "أشهَدُ أنَّ محمّداً رسولُ الله. أشهَدُ أنَّ محمّداً رسولُ الله [I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah]." Allah said: "My servant has spoken the truth; Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) is My servant and My messenger; I have chosen and sent him." Then [the angel-caller] said: "حَیَّ عَلَی الصَّلاهًْ، حَیَّ عَلَی الصَّلاهًْ [Come to prayer]." Allah said: "My servant has spoken the truth, and he is calling all towards fulfilling My obligation; whoever walks towards it willingly and gives it his attention, it will be an atonement for his sins." Then he said: "حَیَّ عَلَی الفَلاحِ، حَیَّ عَلَی الفَلاحِ [Come to success]." Allah said: "Prayer is rectitude, victory and success." Then, just as I had led the prophets in prayer at Bayt al-Muqaddas, I also became the leader of the prayer of the angels in the heaven. Then a mist covered me and I fell into prostration. Allah called me and said: "I made fifty prayers obligatory upon every prophet before you; I make the same obligatory upon you and your ummah, so establish it among your ummah." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "I returned, and passed Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who asked me nothing. Then I came to Musa (peace be upon him)." He said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! What did you do?" I said: "Allah said: I made fifty prayers obligatory upon every prophet before you; I have made the same obligatory upon you and your ummah." Musa (peace be upon him) said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family)! Your ummah is the last of the ummahs and the weakest of them, and your Lord will bring you no benefit from it, and your ummah cannot carry out this amount. Go back to your Lord and ask reduction for your ummah in the matter of prayer." I went back to Allah until I reached Sidrat al-Muntaha and fell into prostration and said: "O Allah! You have made fifty prayers obligatory upon me and my ummah; neither I nor my ummah has the strength for it; lighten it for me." He reduced ten of them. I returned to Musa (peace be upon him) and informed him. He said: "Go back; you cannot bear it." I went back and asked Allah again to reduce, and He reduced another ten. I returned to Musa (peace be upon him) and informed him. He said: "Go back." Each time I went back I would prostrate before Allah, and Allah the Exalted would reduce ten, until it reached ten. I returned to Musa (peace be upon him) and informed him. He said: "You cannot bear it." I returned to the Lord, and He reduced five. I returned to Musa (peace be upon him). He said: "You cannot bear it." I said: "I am ashamed before my Lord; I will be patient with this amount." A caller called out: "Now that you are being patient with it, I will multiply the reward of these five by five, each prayer equal to ten. Whoever of your ummah performs a good deed, I write it for him tenfold; and if he intends it but does not do it, I write it for him as one good deed performed; and if any of your ummah intends an evil deed and performs it, [I write] one sin; and if he does not perform it, I write nothing against him." Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: "May Allah grant Musa (peace be upon him) good on behalf of this ummah." And this is the commentary of the verse: سُبْحانَ الَّذِی أَسْری بِعَبْدِهِ لَیْلاً مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرامِ إِلَی الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَی الَّذِی بارَکْنا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِیَهُ مِنْ آیاتِنا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِیعُ الْبَصِیرُ.
