عَنْ عِیسَی‌بْنِ‌داوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْإِمَامُ مُوسَی‌بْنُ‌جَعْفَرٍ (علیه السلام) عَنْ أَبِیهِ کَانَ الْقَوْمُ إِذَا نَزَلَتْ فِی أَمِیرِ‌الْمُؤْمِنِینَ (علیه السلام) آیَهًٌْ فِی کِتَابِ اللَّهِ فِیهَا فَرْضُ طَاعَتِهِ أَوْ فَضِیلَهًٌْ فِیهِ أَوْ فِی أَهْلِهِ سَخِطُوا ذَلِکَ وَ کَرِهُوا حَتَّی هَمُّوا بِهِ وَ أَرَادُوا بِهِ الْعَظِیمَ وَ أَرَادُوا بِرَسُول اللَّهِ (صلی الله علیه و آله) أَیْضاً لَیْلَهًَْ الْعَقَبَهًِْ غَیْظاً وَ غَضَباً وَ حَسَداً حَتَّی نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآیَهًُْ.
امام صادق ( عیسی‌بن‌داود گوید: امام‌کاظم (از پدر بزرگوارش برایمان نقل نمود که امام‌صادق (پیرامون آیه‌ی وَ إِذا تُتْلی عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتُنا بَیِّناتٍ تَعْرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُوا الْمُنْکَرَ یَکادُونَ یَسْطُونَ بِالَّذِینَ یَتْلُونَ عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتِنا... فرمود: «هرگاه آیه‌ای از قرآن پیرامون وجوب اطاعت از امیرالمؤمنین (یا در فضیلت ایشان و یا در مورد اهل‌بیت او نازل می‌شد، منافقان به شدّت خشمگین می‌شدند و ناخشنود می‌گشتند تا جایی‌که سوءقصد به جان امیرالمؤمنین (کردند و خواستند او را بکشند؛ همچنین در لیلهًْالعقبه (شبی‌که گروهی از منافقان تصمیم داشتند به‌هنگام بازگشت از جنگ تبوک، در یکی از گردنه‌های میان راه، شتر پیامبر (را رم دهند تا حضرت از بالای کوه به درّه پرت شود، ولی پیامبر (در پرتو وحی الهی از این ماجرا آگاه گشت و نقشه‌ی شوم آن‌ها را نقش بر آب کرد) شدّت خشم، کینه و حسادت خود نسبت به رسول‌خدا (را به کار بردند؛ تا اینکه در نهایت این آیه نازل شد.
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): Isa ibn Dawud said: Imam Kazim (peace be upon him) narrated to us from his noble father that Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) said concerning the verse وَ إِذا تُتْلی عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتُنا بَیِّناتٍ تَعْرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُوا الْمُنْکَرَ یَکادُونَ یَسْطُونَ بِالَّذِینَ یَتْلُونَ عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتِنا... [And when Our clear communications are recited to them you will find denial on the faces of those who disbelieve; they almost spring upon those who recite to them Our communications...]: "Whenever a verse of the Quran was revealed concerning the obligation of obeying the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), or concerning his virtue, or concerning his Ahl al-Bayt, the hypocrites would become intensely enraged and displeased, to the point that they made attempts on the life of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and wanted to kill him; likewise on Laylat al-Aqaba (the night when a group of hypocrites had decided, upon returning from the Battle of Tabuk, to startle the Prophet's camel at one of the mountain passes along the way so that he (peace be upon him and his family) would be thrown from the top of the mountain into the valley — but the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), through divine revelation, became aware of this affair and thwarted their evil plan) they exercised the utmost of their rage, rancour and envy toward the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family); until finally this verse was revealed."
ઇમામ સાદિક (અલયહિસ્સલામ): ઈસા બિન દાવૂદ કહે છે: ઇમામ કાઝિમ (અલયહિસ્સલામ) એ પોતાના બુઝુર્ગ પિતા પાસેથી અમને નકલ કર્યું કે ઇમામ સાદિક (અલયહિસ્સલામ) એ આયત وَ إِذا تُتْلی عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتُنا بَیِّناتٍ تَعْرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِ الَّذِینَ کَفَرُوا الْمُنْکَرَ یَکادُونَ یَسْطُونَ بِالَّذِینَ یَتْلُونَ عَلَیْهِمْ آیاتِنا... [અને જ્યારે અમારી સ્પષ્ટ આયતો તેમની સામે તિલાવત કરવામાં આવે છે ત્યારે તમે કાફિરોના ચહેરાઓ પર ઇન્કારના ચિહ્નો જુઓ છો; તેઓ લગભગ તે લોકો પર હુમલો કરી બેસે તેમ છે જેઓ તેમની સામે અમારી આયતોની તિલાવત કરે છે...] વિશે ફરમાવ્યું: "જ્યારે પણ કુરાનની કોઈ આયત અમીરુલ મુઅમિનીન (અલયહિસ્સલામ) ની આજ્ઞાપાલનની વુજૂબ વિશે, અથવા તેમની ફઝીલત વિશે, અથવા તેમના અહલેબૈત વિશે નાઝિલ થતી, ત્યારે મુનાફિકો સખત ગુસ્સે થતા અને નાખુશ થતા, ત્યાં સુધી કે તેમણે અમીરુલ મુઅમિનીન (અલયહિસ્સલામ) ના જીવ પર હુમલો કર્યો અને તેમને શહીદ કરવા ચાહ્યું; તેવી જ રીતે લયલતુલ અકબા (તે રાત જ્યારે મુનાફિકોના એક જૂથે નિર્ણય કર્યો હતો કે તબૂકની જંગથી પરત ફરતી વખતે, રસ્તાની વચ્ચેના કોઈ એક ઘાટ પર, પયગંબર (સલ્લલ્લાહો અલયહે વ આલેહી વસલ્લમ) ની ઊંટને ભડકાવે જેથી હઝરત પર્વતની ટોચ પરથી ખીણમાં પડી જાય, પરંતુ પયગંબર (સલ્લલ્લાહો અલયહે વ આલેહી વસલ્લમ) એ ઇલાહી વહીના પ્રકાશમાં આ ઘટનાથી માહિતગાર થયા અને તેમની અશુભ યોજનાને નિષ્ફળ બનાવી દીધી) ના પ્રસંગે તેમણે રસૂલુલ્લાહ (સલ્લલ્લાહો અલયહે વ આલેહી વસલ્લમ) પ્રત્યે પોતાના ગુસ્સા, દ્વેષ અને ઈર્ષ્યાની પરાકાષ્ઠાનો પ્રયોગ કર્યો; ત્યાં સુધી કે અંતે આ આયત નાઝિલ થઈ."
