The Prophet (peace be upon him and his family): And when the believer sits upon his throne, his throne trembles with joy. When the dwellings of the friend of Allah are set up in Paradise, the angel appointed over its gardens seeks permission to enter upon him, so as to congratulate him on Allah's honouring of him. But the servants and maidservants of the believer say to that angel: 'Wait, for the friend of Allah has reclined upon his throne, and the dark-eyed houri who is his wife wishes to go to him; so be patient until the friend of Allah finishes his occupation.' Then the dark-eyed houri who is his wife comes out to him from her tent, and, with her maidservants around her, she walks eagerly forward. She has put on seventy silk garments woven with rubies, pearls and chrysolite, dyed with musk and ambergris, and she has placed a crown of honour upon her head, and on her feet are shoes of gold adorned with rubies and pearls, with straps of red ruby. When she draws near the friend of Allah and he, out of longing, wishes to rise towards her, she says to him: 'O friend of Allah! Today is not a day of weariness or fatigue, so do not rise; I am for you and you are for me.' Then the two embrace for the measure of five hundred years of the years of this world, and neither does this one tire of him nor does he tire of her. Then the friend of Allah looks at her neck and sees upon it a necklace made of strands of red ruby, upon which is written: You, O friend of Allah, are my beloved, and I, the houri, am your beloved; my soul is bound to you and your soul is bound to me. Then Allah sends a thousand angels to congratulate him upon his entry into Paradise and to wed the dark-eyed houris to him.
