Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): الْمُلْکُ الْعَظِیمُ [the grand kingdom] refers to the Imams of guidance from among the chosen ones, and all of them are of one another's lineage, and they are the scholars in whom Allah has placed His remnant, and in them lies the final outcome and the safeguarding of the covenant, until the world comes to an end and the work of those scholars is completed. The derivation of knowledge belongs to those custodians and guides, and this is the rank of the eminent ones from among the chosen, the messengers, the prophets, the sages, the Imams of guidance, and the successors who are the custodians of the command of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and those entrusted with deriving Allah's knowledge, and the people of the traces of Allah's knowledge — from a lineage that descends from one another and from Allah's chosen ones after the prophets (peace be upon them), including the fathers, brothers and descendants of the prophets (peace be upon them). So whoever holds fast to the eminent ones attains their knowledge and is saved through their support, and whoever places the custodians of the command of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and those entrusted with deriving His knowledge among any other than the chosen ones of the households of the prophets (peace be upon them) is destroyed.
