إِنَّ نُمْرُودَ أَرَادَ أَنْ یَنْظُرَ إِلَی مَلِکِ السَّمَاءِ فَأَخَذَ نُسُوراً أَرْبَعَهًًْ فَرَبَّاهُنَّ وَ جَعَلَ تَابُوتاً مِنْ خَشَبٍ وَ أَدْخَلَ فِیهِ رَجُلًا ثُمَّ شَدَّ قَوَائِمَ النُّسُورِ بِقَوَائِمِ التَّابُوتِ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ فِی وَسْطِ التَّابُوتِ عَمُوداً وَ جَعَلَ فِی رَأْسِ الْعَمُودِ لَحْماً فَلَمَّا رَأَی النُّسُورُ اللَّحْمَ طِرْنَ وَ طِرْنَ بِالتَّابُوتِ وَ الرَّجُلِ فَارْتَفَعْنَ إِلَی السَّمَاءِ فَمَکَثَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ أَخْرَجَ مِنَ التَّابُوتِ رَأْسَهُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَی السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا هِیَ عَلَی حَالِهَا وَ نَظَرَ إِلَی الْأَرْضِ فَإِذَا هُوَ لَا یَرَی الْجِبَالَ إِلَّا کَالذَّرِّ ثُمَّ مَکَثَ سَاعَهًًْ فَنَظَرَ إِلَی السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا هِیَ عَلَی حَالِهَا وَ نَظَرَ إِلَی الْأَرْضِ فَإِذَا هُوَ لَا یَرَی إِلَّا الْمَاءَ ثُمَّ مَکَثَ سَاعَهًًْ فَنَظَرَ إِلَی السَّمَاءِ فَإِذَا هِیَ عَلَی حَالِهَا وَ نَظَرَ إِلَی الْأَرْضِ فَإِذَا هُوَ لَا یَرَی شَیْئاً ثُمَّ وَقَعَ فِی ظُلْمَهًٍْ لَمْ یَرَ مَا فَوْقَهُ وَ مَا تَحْتَهُ فَفَزِعَ فَأَلْقَی اللَّحْمَ فَاتَّبَعَتْهُ النُّسُورُ مُنْقَضَّاتٍ فَلَمَّا نَظَرَتِ الْجِبَالُ إِلَیْهِنَّ وَ قَدْ أَقْبَلْنَ مُنْقَضَّاتٍ وَ سَمِعَتْ حَفِیفَهُنَّ فَزِعَتْ وَ کَادَتْ أَنْ تَزُولَ مَخَافَهًَْ أَمْرِ السَّمَاءِ وَ هُوَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ وَ إِنْ کانَ مَکْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبالُ.
امام علی (علیه السلام)- نمرود خواست که ملک آسمان‌ها را ببیند. بنابراین چهار عقاب را گرفت و آن‌ها را تربیت کرد تا توانا و قدرتمند شدند، سپس صندوقی چوبی درست کرد و مردی را در آن نهاد و پایه‌های صندوق را به پای کرکس‌ها بست و در وسط صندوق، ستونی گذاشت و بر سر آن ستون، مقداری گوشت قرار داد. چون آن پرنده‌ها گوشت را دیدند، به پرواز درآمدند و صندوق و آن مرد را نیز با خود به آسمان بردند و تا آن زمان‌که خدا خواست در آسمان باقی ماند. سپس آن مرد سرش را از صندوق بیرون آورد و به آسمان نگاه کرد و دید که آسمان چنان است که بود و از آن ارتفاع، هیچ تغییری نکرده است؛ چون به زمین نگاه کرد، کوه‌ها را هم چون ذرّه‌ای کوچک دید، پس ساعتی دیگر درنگ کرد و دوباره سر از صندوق بیرون کرده و به آسمان نظری افکند و دید که آسمان، چنان است که بود، بی‌آنکه تغییری کند. به زمین نگریست و جز آب، چیز دیگری ندید. پس ساعتی دیگر درنگ کرد و باز به آسمان نگریست و دید که آسمان، چنان است که بود، بی‌هیچ تغییری. به زمین نگاه کرد و دریافت که چیزی نمی‌بیند (فاصله‌ی او تا زمین، بسیار شد) بعد از مدّتی در تاریکی قرار گرفت که مانند آن را ندیده بود، پس ترسید و گوشت را پایین انداخت و عقاب‌ها هم به‌دنبال آن پایین رفتند، هنگامیکه کوه‌ها آن‌ها را درحال فرود دیدند و صدای خروش آن‌ها به کوه‌ها رسید. هراس آن‌ها راگرفت و نزدیک بود که به خاطر ترس از دگرگونی آسمان از جا کنده شوند. از همین روست که خداوند تبارک‌وتعالی فرموده است: وَ إِن کَانَ مَکْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ».
Imam Ali (peace be upon him): Nimrod wanted to see the kingdom of the heavens. So he took four eagles and reared them until they became strong and powerful. Then he made a wooden chest and placed a man inside it, and tied the legs of the chest to the legs of the vultures. In the middle of the chest he set up a pole, and on top of the pole he placed a piece of meat. When those birds saw the meat, they took flight and carried the chest and the man with them into the sky, and they remained in the sky for as long as Allah willed. Then the man put his head out of the chest and looked at the sky, and saw that the sky was just as it had been — from that height, it had not changed at all. When he looked at the earth, he saw the mountains as small as a speck. So he waited another while, and again put his head out of the chest and cast a glance at the sky, and saw that the sky was just as it had been, without any change. He looked at the earth and saw nothing but water. Then he waited another while and again looked at the sky, and saw that the sky was just as it had been, without any change. He looked at the earth and realised that he could see nothing (his distance from the earth had become very great). After a while he found himself in a darkness the like of which he had never seen, so he became afraid and threw the meat down, and the eagles too went down after it. When the mountains saw them descending and the sound of their rushing reached the mountains, terror seized the mountains and they were about to be uprooted from their places out of fear of a change in the sky. It is on account of this that Allah the Blessed and Exalted has said: وَ إِن کَانَ مَکْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ [And their plotting was such that the mountains would be moved thereby].
ઇમામ અલી (અલયહિસ્સલામ): નમરૂદે આકાશોના રાજ્યને જોવાનું ઇચ્છ્યું. તેથી તેણે ચાર ગરુડ પકડ્યાં અને તેમને એવી રીતે ઉછેર્યાં કે તેઓ મજબૂત અને શક્તિશાળી બન્યાં. પછી તેણે લાકડાની એક પેટી બનાવી અને તેમાં એક માણસને મૂક્યો, અને પેટીના પાયાઓને ગીધોના પગ સાથે બાંધ્યા, અને પેટીની વચ્ચે એક થાંભલો મૂક્યો, અને તે થાંભલાની ટોચ પર થોડું માંસ મૂક્યું. જ્યારે તે પક્ષીઓએ માંસ જોયું, ત્યારે તેઓ ઊડ્યાં અને પેટી તથા તે માણસને પણ પોતાની સાથે આકાશમાં લઈ ગયાં, અને જ્યાં સુધી અલ્લાહે ઇચ્છ્યું ત્યાં સુધી તેઓ આકાશમાં રહ્યાં. પછી તે માણસે પોતાનું માથું પેટીમાંથી બહાર કાઢ્યું અને આકાશ તરફ જોયું, અને જોયું કે આકાશ જેવું હતું તેવું જ છે — તે ઊંચાઈથી, તેમાં કોઈ ફેરફાર થયો નથી. જ્યારે તેણે ધરતી તરફ જોયું, ત્યારે તેણે પર્વતોને એક નાના કણ જેવા જોયા. તેથી તેણે થોડી વાર વધારે રાહ જોઈ, અને ફરીથી માથું પેટીમાંથી બહાર કાઢી આકાશ તરફ નજર નાખી, અને જોયું કે આકાશ જેવું હતું તેવું જ છે, કોઈ ફેરફાર વગર. તેણે ધરતી તરફ જોયું અને પાણી સિવાય બીજું કંઈ જોયું નહીં. પછી થોડી વાર વધુ રાહ જોઈ અને ફરીથી આકાશ તરફ જોયું, અને જોયું કે આકાશ જેવું હતું તેવું જ છે, કોઈ પણ ફેરફાર વગર. તેણે ધરતી તરફ જોયું અને સમજ્યું કે તે કંઈ પણ જોઈ શકતો નથી (ધરતીથી તેનું અંતર ઘણું વધી ગયું હતું). થોડા સમય પછી તે એવા અંધકારમાં પડ્યો કે તેના જેવો તેણે ક્યારેય જોયો ન હતો, તેથી તે ભયભીત થયો અને માંસને નીચે ફેંકી દીધું, અને ગરુડો પણ તેની પાછળ નીચે ગયાં. જ્યારે પર્વતોએ તેમને નીચે ઊતરતાં જોયાં અને તેમના ધસારાનો અવાજ પર્વતો સુધી પહોંચ્યો, ત્યારે પર્વતોને ભય પકડ્યો અને આકાશના પરિવર્તનના ડરથી તેઓ પોતાની જગ્યાએથી ઉખડી જવાની અણી પર હતા. આ જ કારણે અલ્લાહ તબારક વ તઆલાએ ફરમાવ્યું છે: وَ إِن کَانَ مَکْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ [અને તેમનું કાવતરું એવું હતું કે તેનાથી પર્વતો પોતાની જગ્યાએથી હલી જાય].
