Imam Kazim (peace be upon him): The first, the second, the third and up to the ninth of them (the leaders of the hypocrites), whenever they encountered Salman (may Allah have mercy on him) and his companions on their way, would be displeased at seeing them and would say: "These are the companions of [that] sorcerer and madman", by whom they meant Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Ali (peace be upon him). The first of them said: "Watch how I shall mock them (the believers) and drive their harm away from you". When they reached [Salman (may Allah have mercy on him)] the first said: "Welcome! Bravo! To Salman (may Allah have mercy on him), the son of Islam"! And he addressed him with the words with which the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) had praised him. And likewise he praised all four (Salman, Miqdad, Abu Dharr and Ammar (may Allah have mercy on them)). When [the hypocrites] left and moved away from the believers, the first said: "What do you think of my mocking them and of the fact that I drove their harm away from you and from myself"? His friends answered: "[Bravo to you] as long as you are alive you are always a source of good and blessing for us". The first continued: "Yes! Your dealing with them [at present] must be in this manner; until an opportunity comes to hand; like this instance. The wise and intelligent one is he who sees the grief and endures with patience until he obtains an opportunity [and settles it]".
