ما قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ؛ أَیْ مَا عَظَّمُوهُ حَقَّ تَعْظِیمِهِ أَوْ مَا عَرَفُوهُ حَقَّ مَعْرِفَتِهِ حَیْثُ أَشْرَکُوا بِهِ وَ سَمَّوْا بِاسْمِهِ مَا هُوَ أَبْعَدُ الْأَشْیَاءِ عَنْهُ مُنَاسَبَهًًْ.
امام صادق ( وَ ما قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ؛ یعنی خداوند را آنچنان‌که باید بزرگ بدارند، بزرگ‌نداشتند؛ یا آنچنان‌که باید او را بشناسند، نشناختند؛ از این‌رو برای او شریک قرار دادند و چیزی‌که کمترین تناسب و سنخیّتی با خدا ندارد (یعنی بُت) را خدا نامیدند.
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): وَ ما قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ [They have not estimated Allah with the estimation that is due to Him] — that is, they did not magnify Allah as He ought to be magnified, or they did not know Him as He ought to be known; and for this reason they associated partners with Him and called "god" that which has not the least resemblance or affinity with Allah (that is, the idol).
ઇમામ સાદિક (અલયહિસ્સલામ): وَ ما قَدَرُوا اللهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ [તેઓએ અલ્લાહની એ કદર ન કરી જેવી કરવી જોઈએ] — એટલે કે અલ્લાહને એવી રીતે મહાન ન માન્યા જેવી રીતે માનવો જોઈએ; અથવા તેને એવી રીતે ન ઓળખ્યો જેવી રીતે ઓળખવો જોઈએ; આ કારણે તેઓએ તેના માટે શરીક ઠરાવ્યા અને એવી વસ્તુને કે જેને અલ્લાહ સાથે સૌથી ઓછી પણ સમાનતા કે સંબંધ નથી (એટલે કે મૂર્તિ) તેને અલ્લાહ કહ્યું.
