Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him): Atiyyah ibn Najih ibn Mutahhar and Ishaq ibn Ammar said: When Abdullah ibn Hasan was taken to prison and Mansur seized them, Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) wrote him a letter of condolence over this event: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِیم [In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful]; if you and your family who were exiled with you have been left alone in what has befallen you, you are not alone in the grief, anger, sorrow and burning pain of the heart, and I share with you in this soul-scorching distress. The restlessness, anxiety and burning of the calamity that has reached you has also come upon me, but in such a calamity we must adopt the patience and beautiful endurance which Allah, glorious is His majesty, has commanded the pious to observe. As He says in this verse to His Prophet, relating from Luqman who said to his son: وَ اصْبِرْ عَلی ما أَصابَکَ إِنَّ ذلِکَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُور [And bear patiently that which befalls you; surely these acts require courage].
