Imam Baqir (peace be upon him): It is narrated from Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) that in the supplication of the day of Eid al-Fitr, in describing the qualities of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), he said: Addressing the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), when You chose him for the names You bestowed upon him, You said: طه ما أَنْزَلْنا عَلَیْکَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقی [Ta Ha! We have not sent down the Quran upon you that you should be distressed] (Ta Ha 20:1-2). And You, whose speech is majestic, said: یس وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْحَکِیمِ [Ya Sin! By the wise (and firm) Quran] (Ya Sin 36:1-2). And You, whose names are holy, said: ص وَ الْقُرْآنِ ذِی الذِّکْرِ [Sad! By the Quran full of remembrance] (Sad 38:1). And You, whose blessings are great, said: ق وَ الْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِیدِ [Qaf! By the glorious Quran] (Qaf 50:1). So You distinguished the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) with this quality that You made him Your oath [swore by him] when You elevated him and combined between the Quran and [the name of] him. Thus, in Your Book, every attestation of an oath which [the name of] the Quran comes after it, the name of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) has come as the attestation of that oath [like the verses mentioned above]; and this is an honour with which You honoured the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), and a perfection to which You raised him. Tongues and imaginations are incapable of describing what You intend by giving this quality [to the Prophet] and are unable to comprehend Your praise of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). And You, who possess great majesty, in confirming [and firmly establishing] the Quran and accepting what it has brought, said: هذا کِتابُنا یَنْطِقُ عَلَیْکُمْ بِالْحَقِ [This is Our Book which speaks against you with the truth (and recounts your deeds)] (al-Jathiya 45:29). And You, who are mighty and majestic, said: ما فَرَّطْنا فِی الْکِتابِ مِنْ شَیْءٍ [We have not neglected anything in the Book] (al-An'am 6:38). And You, who are blessed and exalted, at the beginning of some surahs said: الر کِتابٌ أُحْکِمَتْ آیاتُهُ [Alif Lam Ra, (this is) a Book whose verses are firmly established] (Hud 11:1). [Alif Lam Ra, (this is) a Book which We have sent down upon you] (Ibrahim 14:1). [Alif Lam Ra, these are the verses of the manifest and clarifying Book] (Yusuf 12:1). [Alif Lam Mim, that is the mighty Book in which there is no doubt] (al-Baqara 2:1-2). And [likewise] surahs similar to these from the Tawasin surahs (the surahs of Shu'ara, Naml and Qasas which begin with Ta Sin) and the Hawamim (the surahs of Ghafir, Fussilat, Shura, Zukhruf, Dukhan, Jathiya and Ahqaf which begin with Ha Mim); in all of these instances, You accompanied the Quran with an oath, which oath is [by] the name of the one whom You made exclusive to Your revelation and with whom You deposited the secret of Your unseen."
