سورة الزخرف
Verse 23 of 89
وَ كَذلِكَ ما أَرْسَلْنا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ في قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَذيرٍ إِلاَّ قالَ مُتْرَفُوها إِنَّا وَجَدْنا آباءَنا عَلى أُمَّةٍ وَ إِنَّا عَلى آثارِهِمْ مُقْتَدُونَ
و اين‌گونه در هيچ شهر و ديارى پيش از تو، انذاركننده‌اى نفرستاديم مگر اينكه ثروتمندان مست و مغرور آن گفتند: «ما پدران خود را بر آيينى يافتيم و به آثار آنان اقتدا مى‌كنيم».
And thus, We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: Surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps.
અને આ રીતે અમોએ તારી અગાઊ કોઇ વસ્તીમાં પયગંબર નથી મોકલ્યા સિવાય કે તે વસ્તીના માલદાર (ઘમંડી) લોકોએ કહ્યું કે અમોએ અમારા બાપદાદાઓ (આ) દીન ઉપર જોયા છે અને અમે તેમના નકશે કદમની પેરવી કરીએ છીએ.
