Ali ibn Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him): كَما بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَ فَرِيقاً هَدَى وَ فَرِيقاً حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الضَّلالَةُ [As He brought you forth in the beginning, so shall you return; one group He guided, and one group upon whom misguidance was justly decreed]; when He created them, He created them as believers and disbelievers, wretched and blessed, and likewise on the Day of Resurrection they will return — some guided and some misguided. Allah the Blessed and Exalted says: they [are those who] took the satans as their guardians instead of Allah, and suppose that they are rightly guided! (al-A'raf/30). What is meant is the Qadariyya, who do not believe in divine decree and claim that they themselves are able to guide themselves or lead themselves astray, and that this choice is in their own hands; if they wish they are guided, and whenever they wish they go astray. They are the Magians of this ummah. The enemies of Allah lie: will and power belong to Allah. كَمَا بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَ — whoever He created wretched, will return wretched to Him, and whoever He created blessed at the time of his creation, will return in that same state to Him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) says: "The wretched one is he who was wretched in his mother's womb, and the blessed one is he who enjoyed blessedness and good fortune in his mother's womb."
