Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him): In the [recommended] practice for Friday it is stated: ... I confess my sins before You, and I mention my need to You, and I complain to You of my poverty and destitution, the hardness of my heart, and the whims of my soul; for You said: فَمَا اسْتَکانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَ ما یَتَضَرَّعُونَ [But they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves]. And now, O my Allah! I am the very one who has dared [taken refuge] with You, and sat helpless before You, weeping before You, hoping for what is with You. You see me, You know all that is within me, You hear my speech, and You know my need and helplessness, my state, my station and the place of my dwelling, and everything I wish to say.
