Imam al-Askari (peace be upon him) on مُصَدِّقاً بِکَلِمَةٍ مِنَ اللهِ [verifying a Word from Allah], said: "He is the one who verifies Isa (peace be upon him)"; Yahya (peace be upon him) verifies Isa (peace be upon him)... And the first verification of Isa (peace be upon him) by Yahya (peace be upon him) was this: no one other than Zakariya (peace be upon him) used to go up to Maryam (peace be upon her) in that hermitage; he would go up to her by means of a ladder, and when he came down he would lock the door on her, then he would open a small opening for her above the door through which the breeze could enter upon her. When he found out that Maryam (peace be upon her) had become pregnant, this troubled him, and he said to himself: "No one other than me used to go up to Maryam (peace be upon her), and now she has become pregnant, and now I shall be disgraced among the Bani Israil. They will not doubt that I made her pregnant." So he came to his wife and told her about it. His wife said: "O Zakariya (peace be upon him), do not fear! For Allah will only deal with you with good. Bring Maryam (peace be upon her) to me so that I may see her and ask her about her state." Zakariya (peace be upon him) brought her to his wife. Allah relieved Maryam (peace be upon her) of the difficulty of answering the question, for when she came to her sister — while her sister was the elder and Maryam was the younger — the wife of Zakariya (peace be upon him) did not rise out of respect for her. So Allah gave permission to Yahya (peace be upon him), who was in his mother's womb, and he struck within her belly and made her restless and moved her from her place, and he called out to his mother: "The mistress of the women of the worlds, carrying within her the master of the men of the worlds, is coming to you, and you do not rise in respect for her?!" So she was jolted up and went towards her, and Yahya (peace be upon him), while in his mother's womb, prostrated to Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), and that was his first verification. And thus is the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) concerning al-Hasan and al-Husayn (peace be upon them): they two are the two masters of the youth of the people of Paradise, except for what was of the two sons of the maternal aunts, Yahya and Isa (peace be upon them).
