لِلرِّجالِ نَصيبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوالِدانِ وَ الْأَقْرَبُونَ وَ لِلنِّساءِ نَصيبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوالِدانِ وَ الْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ نَصيباً مَفْرُوضاً
براى مردان، از آنچه پدر و مادر و خويشاوندان، برجاى مى‌گذارند، سهمى است؛ و براى زنان نيز، از آنچه پدر و مادر و خويشاوندان بر جاى مى‌گذارند، سهمى؛ خواه آن چيز، كم باشد يا زياد؛ اين سهمى است تعيين‌شده و پرداختنى.
Men shall have a portion of what the parents and the near relatives leave, and women shall have a portion of what the parents and the near relatives leave, whether there is little or much of it; a stated portion.
માં-બાપ તથા નજીકના સગા જે (મિલકત) મૂકી જાય તેમાં મર્દોનો ભાગ છે, અને (એજ રીતે) વાલેદૈન તથા નજીકના સગાઓ જે (મિલકત) મૂકી જાય તેમાં ઔરતોનો ભાગ છે, પછી તે થોડો હોય કે વધારે, (દરેકનો) હિસ્સો નક્કી કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
