فِی وَصْفِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ قَالَ (علیه السلام) ... وَ مِنْ عَلَامَاتِ أَحَدِهِمْ أَنْ یَکُونَ لَهُ حَزْمٌ فِی لِینٍ وَ إِیمَانٌ فِی یَقِینٍ وَ حِرْصٌ فِی تَقْوَی وَ فَهْمٌ فِی فِقْهٍ وَ حِلْمٌ فِی عِلْمٍ وَ کَیْسٌ فِی رِفْقٍ وَ قَصْدٌ فِی غِنًی وَ خُشُوعٌ فِی عِبَادَهًٍْ وَ تَحَمُّلٌ فِی فَاقَهًٍْ وَ صَبْرٌ فِی شِدَّهًٍْ وَ إِعْطَاءٌ فِی حَقٍّ وَ طَلَبٌ لِحَلَالٍ وَ نَشَاطٌ فِی هُدًی وَ تَحَرُّجٌ عَنْ طَمَعٍ وَ تَنَزُّهٌ عَنْ طَبَعٍ وَ بِرٌّ فِی اسْتِقَامَهًٍْ وَ اعْتِصَامٌ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ مُتَابَعَهًِْ الشَّهَوَاتِ وَ اسْتَعَاذَهًٌْ بِهِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیمِ یُمْسِی وَ هَمُّهُ الشُّکْرُ وَ یُصْبِحُ وَ شُغْلُهُ الْفِکْرُ أُولَئِکَ الْآمِنُونَ الْمُطْمَئِنُّونَ الَّذِینَ یُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ کَأْسٍ لا لَغْوٌ فِیها وَ لا تَأْثِیمٌ.
امام علی (علیه السلام)- در بیان صفات مؤمنین فرمود: و از نشانه‌های یکی از آنان این است که دارای دوراندیشی با نرمی است؛ ایمان همراه با یقین دارد؛ در پرهیزگاری حریص است؛ فهم در احکام دین، بردباری در علم، زیرکی در مداراکردن، میانه‌روی در توانگری، فروتنی در عبادت، شکیبایی در تهیدستی، بردباری در سختی و بخشش در راه حقّ دارد؛ جویای حلال است و نشاط در هدایت، پرهیز از طمع، دوری از عیب و آلایش، نیکی در کنار استقامت و تمسّک به خدا از پیرویِ خواهش‌های نفسانی دارد و از شرّ شیطان رانده‌شده به خدا پناه می‌برد؛ شب می‌کند در اندیشه‌ی شُکر و روز می‌کند درحالی‌که کارش تفکّر است؛ اینان کسانی‌اند که در امانند و اطمینان خاطر دارند، که از جامی سیراب می‌شوند که لا لَغْوٌ فیها وَ لا تَأْثیمٌ.
Imam Ali (peace be upon him): In describing the qualities of the believers, he said: And among the signs of one of them is that he possesses foresight together with gentleness; he has faith accompanied by certainty; he is eager in piety; he has understanding in the rulings of the religion, forbearance in knowledge, shrewdness in kindness, moderation in wealth, humility in worship, patience in poverty, endurance in hardship, and generosity in the way of truth; he seeks the lawful and has enthusiasm in guidance, refrains from greed, keeps away from defect and impurity, has goodness together with steadfastness, and clings to Allah against following the desires of the self; and he takes refuge in Allah from the evil of the accursed Satan; he passes the evening with the thought of gratitude and passes the day while his occupation is reflection; these are the ones who are secure and possess tranquility, who are given to drink from a cup لا لَغْوٌ فیها وَ لا تَأْثیمٌ [wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin].
ઇમામ અલી (અલયહિસ્સલામ): મોમિનોના ગુણોના વર્ણનમાં ફરમાવ્યું: અને તેમાંથી એકની નિશાનીઓમાંથી એ છે કે તે નરમાશ સાથે દૂરંદેશી ધરાવે છે; યકીન સાથે ઈમાન ધરાવે છે; પરહેજગારીમાં હરીસ છે; દીનના અહકામમાં સમજ, ઇલ્મમાં સહનશીલતા, મુદારા કરવામાં ચતુરાઈ, સંપત્તિમાં મધ્યમમાર્ગ, ઇબાદતમાં નમ્રતા, ગરીબીમાં ધીરજ, મુશ્કેલીમાં સહનશીલતા અને હકના માર્ગમાં દાન ધરાવે છે; હલાલનો શોધનાર છે અને હિદાયતમાં ઉત્સાહ, લાલચથી પરહેજ, ખામી અને અશુદ્ધિથી દૂરી, ઇસ્તિકામત સાથે નેકી અને નફ્સાની ઇચ્છાઓની પૈરવીથી અલ્લાહને વળગી રહેવું ધરાવે છે; અને તગડાયેલા શેતાનના શરથી અલ્લાહની પનાહ માંગે છે; રાત શુક્રના વિચારમાં પસાર કરે છે અને દિવસ એવી હાલતમાં પસાર કરે છે કે તેનું કામ ચિંતન છે; આ તે લોકો છે જેઓ અમાનમાં છે અને દિલનો ઇત્મિનાન ધરાવે છે, જેઓ એવા જામથી સિરાબ થાય છે કે لا لَغْوٌ فیها وَ لا تَأْثیمٌ [જેમાં ન કોઈ વ્યર્થ વાત છે અને ન કોઈ ગુનાહ].
