Imam Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance): It is narrated from Alawi al-Misri: Why do you not call upon your Allah and the Allah of your fathers with the supplication by which the earlier prophets used to call upon Allah whenever hardship and severity befell them? Then Allah the Exalted would remove that hardship from them through the blessing of this supplication. I said: "Which supplication is it that they used to recite?" His Eminence said: "When the night of Friday comes, perform ghusl, and after finishing the night prayer perform the sajdah of shukr (prostration of thanks). When you raise your head from the prostration, sit upon your two knees and recite this supplication ... إِنَّ أَخْذَکَ الْأَلِیمُ الشَّدِیدُ أَخْذَ عَزِیزٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ [Indeed Your seizing is painful and severe, the seizing of a Mighty, Powerful One], the One who seizes them, O my Lord! فَإِنَّکَ عَزِیزٌ مُقْتَدِر [For indeed You are Mighty, Powerful]."
