سورة الأعلى

Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) was asked about the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: وَ ذَکَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّی [And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays]. He said: "He went out to the open prayer ground and prayed."

Imam Rida (peace be upon him): Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah al-Dihqan said: I came before Imam Rida (peace be upon him), and he said to me: "What is the meaning of this word of Allah the Exalted: وَ ذَکَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّی [And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays]?" I said: "Whenever he remembers the name of his Lord, he rises and prays." He (peace be upon him) said: "If that were so, Allah the Mighty and Majestic would have imposed a very burdensome task." I said: "May I be your ransom! Then what is its meaning?" He said: "Whenever he remembers the name of his Lord, he sends blessings upon Muhammad and his family (peace be upon them)."

Ali ibn Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him): وَ ذَکَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّی [And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays] means the prayer of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Ibn Abbas (may Allah have mercy on him): ذَکَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّی [And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays] means the oneness of Allah.
