Imam Askari (peace be upon him): In Tafsir of Imam Askari (peace be upon him) it is reported: When Sulayman (peace be upon him) set out from Mecca towards Yemen, the hoopoe said: "While you are busy with the preparations for the descent, I will go in search of water." So he searched right and left for water, and suddenly his eye fell upon a green garden from the gardens of the Queen of Sheba, and he alighted there. There he saw another hoopoe. The name of Sulayman's (peace be upon him) hoopoe was Ya'fur, and the name of the hoopoe of Yemen was "Anqir." Anqir said to Ya'fur: "Where have you come from?" He said: "I have come from Sham with my master Sulayman (peace be upon him), in whose hand is the entire kingdom of the jinn, mankind, birds, wild beasts, satans and the winds. Who are you?" He said: "I am from this very land of Yemen, and our owner and mistress is a woman named Bilqis, whose kingdom is not less than that of Sulayman (peace be upon him). She is the queen of Yemen, and twelve thousand commanders and leaders are under her command. Will you come with me so that you may cast a glance at her kingdom?" Ya'fur said: "I fear that Sulayman (peace be upon him) may need water at the time of prayer and notice my absence." Anqir said: "Certainly Sulayman (peace be upon him) will be pleased to hear news from you about Yemen." So Sulayman's (peace be upon him) hoopoe set off with the Yemeni hoopoe and observed the kingdom of Bilqis, and could not return to Sulayman (peace be upon him) until the time of the afternoon. At the time of the noon prayer, Sulayman (peace be upon him) called for the hoopoe, and when he did not find him, he summoned the chief of the birds, that is, the vulture, and asked him about the hoopoe. Then he summoned the eagle and asked about the hoopoe. The eagle soared high to find him, and at that very moment the hoopoe was returning. The eagle went towards him, and the hoopoe said: "By the right of the One who granted you strength and dominance, have mercy on me and do not intend any harm towards me, and lift the eagle from me [i.e. leave off attacking]." The eagle said: "Woe to you! May your mother mourn you! The Prophet of Allah Sulayman (peace be upon him) has sworn to slaughter you or punish you severely." Then both flew towards Sulayman (peace be upon him). When they reached Sulayman (peace be upon him), he was seated upon his throne. The eagle said: "O Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him)! I have brought the hoopoe to you." The hoopoe, with humility and reverence, spreading his wings and feathers upon the ground, approached Sulayman (peace be upon him). Sulayman (peace be upon him) took his head in his hand and looked at him and said: "Where were you?" He said: "O Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him)! Remember your standing before Allah the Exalted!" Sulayman (peace be upon him) trembled, and pardoned him and overlooked his fault.
